Public Transport

Rail Network

The train system is currently run by two public transport operators – SMRT Corporation Ltd (SMRT) and SBS Transit (SBST). SMRT operates the North-South Line, East-West Line, Circle Line, Thomson-East Coast Line and the Bukit Panjang LRT. SBST operates the North East Line and the Downtown Line, and the Sengkang-Punggol LRT.

Bus Network

Public bus services are operated by four operators – SBS Transit (SBST) , SMRT Corporation Ltd (SMRT) , Go-Ahead Singapore, , and Tower Transit Singapore.

Ways to Pay

contactless bank cards, mobile wallets, concession cards, EZ-Link cards, cash, or a Singapore Tourist Pass - which offers all-day unlimited travel (Unlimited travel is only applicable for public bus and train services. The pass excludes rides on premium services such as Sentosa Express, RWS8, express buses as well as other premium and niche bus services).

Taxi fares

Taxi fares in Singapore are determined independently by taxi companies. The LTA, together with the Public Transport Council, works with operators to ensure that certain aspects of fares remain standardised and easy to understand.

Ride Hailing Apps

Ride hailing applications available in Singapore let you book a ride from your preferred pick-up point to your desired destination. Options available include ComfortDelGro, Grab, Gojek, Ryde and TADA.

Tax Refund

Tourists can claim a refund on the 9% Goods and Services Tax (GST) paid on your purchases if you spend more than $100 at participating shops with "Tax Free" shopping logo.

Smoking Area

Smoking is prohibited in buildings, retail food establishments, transport nodes, public service vehicles, and sports facilities. Designated smoking areas are marked with notices or signs. Refer to NEA for the full list of prohibited smoking areas.

E-vaporisers

The purchase, possession or use of e-vaporisers, including e-vaporiser products, is illegal in Singapore, and offenders will face penalties including composition fines or prosecution. Refer to Stop Vaping for more information.

Safe Drinking Water

Singapore's tap water quality exceeds the standards of the World Health Organization and is safe to drink directly from the tap or easily purchased from stores.

Power and Plug

Singapore uses 220-240 volt AC (50 Hz) power and three-square prong plugs.
